I am a Resident in Counseling (LPC-R) and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor-Supervisee (CSAC-S) in the state of Virginia. I provide therapy to adolescents, adults, and groups and work well with those who have minority cultural identities. I utilize a Person-Centered approach to begin every therapeutic relationship to provide space for clients to broach the subject of culture and highlight how they would like the therapeutic relationship to be formulated. I also incorporate other modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy techniques to help the clients reach their goals and address their concerns. My specialties include depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, self-esteem, stress, relationship concerns, anger management, substance use, and coping skills. I am a firm believer that “a little therapy” can help anyone and I’m willing to work with clients to reach their goals. As an African American woman, I have witnessed the stigma around mental health services and desire to be a positive representative and liaison for my community. I strive to be a representative of how culture can be utilized in an ethical manner with the utmost respect and utilization in client care.
